It's somewhat easy to book an airline ticket online. But if what you're after goes beyond getting from Point A to Point B, you might want to consider letting the travel experts bring the options to you.
The inaugural Atlanta Travel & Adventure Show, running at the Cobb Galleria Centre Oct. 22-23, features more than 100 exhibitors from various tour groups, airlines, countries and adventure outfitters.
"The show is for travelers who not only want to get away, but want to have a real experience," said show organizer Jim Forberg. "They might have a destination in mind, but they want to add elements to the trip to separate it from others."
For instance, if you want to go to Italy, perhaps you want to make your trip richer by adding cooking classes or taking a tour of an olive oil factory. Perhaps Belize is your destination and you want to take a rain forest and Scuba trip in addition to laying on the beach.
Vacationers with adventure in mind can try out ziplining, scuba diving and rock climbing at the show before they decide to include it as part of a future trip.
Travel Channel host Samantha Brown, travel writer Pauline Frommer will be among the presenters who will offer expertise to would-be travelers in need some direction. In addition, author Mark DeCarlo will also host a Fiery Foods Challenge.
And for those whose traveling funds might dictate a vacation closer to home, the show will feature hosts from Georgia Traveler and exhibitors from around the Southeast.
"The show gives you the opportunity to come face-to-face with experts," Forberg said. "No one wants to have a bad vacation, because you want to come back and talk about it."
