Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, brother of Luke and Liam Hemsworth, is People's "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2014, the magazine announced Wednesday.
The "Thor" star said he and his wife, model Elsa Pataky, found the news "pretty funny."
"I think you've bought me a couple of weeks of bragging rights around the house," he told People. "I can just say to her, 'Now remember, this is what the people think, so I don't need to do the dishes anymore. I don't need to change nappies. I'm above that. I've made it now.' "
Naturally, social media immediately erupted upon hearing the news.
"Naming Chris Hemsworth the sexiest man alive is maybe the most journalistically accurate thing @peoplemag has ever done," said Twitter user @brynn_kush.
But not everyone agreed.
"Chris Hemsworth is not even the hottest Hemsworth, let alone the hottest Chris... People magazine got it WRONG," said @earthtohelena, possibly referring Hemsworth's younger brother Liam, star of the "Hunger Games," and "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt.
