For the first time in its 18-year history, Thursday’s “A King Celebration” musical tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has been canceled.

The concert, featuring the Atlanta Symphony and co-sponsored by the King Center and Morehouse and Spelman colleges, was to take place at King Chapel at Morehouse.

“We are deeply saddened to cancel this musical tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” said Atlanta Symphony Orchestra President Stanley E. Romanstein in a statement. “The icy conditions in metro Atlanta are unfortunate, but we and our partners agree the well-being of our concertgoers is of utmost importance to us.”

Refunds will be available beginning Tuesday at the Woodruff Arts Center Box Office (15th and Peachtree streets) or by calling 404-733-5000.

Also on the not happening list:  Zoo Atlanta, which will remain closed Thursday. For information: 404-624-WILD, www.zooatlanta.org.
