Denzel Washington and his wife, Pauletta, arrive for the premiere of "American Gangster" at the Apollo Theatre in New York. Washington plays a 1970s crime boss in the film.

Russell Crowe and his wife, Danielle Spencer, arrive for the movie premiere. Crowe plays an outcast cop who tangles with Denzel Washington's crime boss.

Josh Brolin also plays a cop in the movie.

Jay-Z apparently liked the movie so much he was inspired to record a concept album, also called "American Gangster." It will be released Nov. 6.
