After living in New York City, Miami and Los Angeles, Jordan McAuley’s appreciation of Atlanta’s natural beauty grew over the years. When McAuley moved back to his hometown, he chose a condo in 1010 Midtown, a high-rise on Peachtree Street with the sights of city life and greenery, thanks to Piedmont Park views.

Inside his condo, McAuley has blended affordable items with more pricey pieces, such as furniture and one-of-a-kind artwork.

“I always mix some things that are not very expensive, but sort of look expensive, like the cowhide rug (from IKEA), with some pieces that are expensive, like the Restoration Hardware chair,” he said.

Resident: Jordan McAuley, 35, founder of CELEBRITY / PR & Marketing

Location: 1010 Midtown, Atlanta

Size: About 1,400 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths

Year built: 2008

Year bought: 2011

Architectural style: Modern

Favorite architectural feature: 1010 Midtown's curved exterior, which makes a statement at street level and even outside his unit. "It curves out and curves in, like a wave," he said. "A lot of condos, if you're on the balcony, you can see your neighbor's balcony to the left and right. Because of the way the balcony is curved, it's very private."

Design consultant: Alejandra Dunphy (A | D Design)

Interior design style: Eco-chic, with an equestrian theme. "I'm really interested in green and organic and natural furnishings. It's a mix of modern and natural style," McAuley said. In the living room, a tree stump serves as a table, holding a lamp made of driftwood. In his bedroom, the lamp and deer heads are created out of laser-cut cardboard. "I really like when people take things and recycle them and make them cool for the home," he said. The equestrian element is found in pieces such as a painting of a horse in his bedroom and leather kitchen bar stools that look like saddles.

Favorite interior design feature: Artist Todd Seay transformed a plain white support column — often found in condos — with a faux finish to give the appearance of marble tiles.

Favorite outdoor feature: The views from his 32nd-floor condo, which stretch from Piedmont Park to the left and down Peachtree Street, including sights such as the Fox Theatre, to the right.
