This weekend the Beehive Bi-Annual Warehouse sale returns from Sat., Aug. 26 through Labor Day. Doors open early at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Beehive in the Edgewood Retail District, 1250 Caroline Street, Atlanta.
Over the years, the sale has grown dramatically from about 20 designers to more than 60. In addition, the standard for discounts has increased from up to 25 percent to up to 90 percent.
While the sale began more than a decade ago as a liquidation sale, in recent years store owner, Malene Davis, has re-imagined the sale as a way to create earning opportunities for Beehive designers during two of the slowest retail sales months of the year – January and August.
The event, one of the largest handmade sales in Atlanta, will feature the work of more than 60 designers. Products include such locally made items as handmade jewelry and accessories, stationery, wall art, housewares, clothing and toys for babies and children, bath and body goods and locally made artisan foods.
All items are from designers in the Beehive community with sale items marked at 40 - 90 percent off regular prices. Designers will also have regularly priced items marked down 20 to 30 percent off.
This year, there are two new Beehive designers participating in the sale: ABETTERBUZZ Brand Goods (see image above), a line of tees, tanks, prints, hats and more and Textile & Twine, (see image below) a collection of vintage inspired aprons and home linens.
DIYers and home crafters will find 100s of craft supplies, fabric and jewelry priced from $1 - $5 and there will be mini bites from Revolution Donuts and iced tea from Just Add Honey for early shoppers (while supplies last).
