Roswell's Todd Chrisley told "The View" this morning that USA has renewed his reality show "Chrisley Knows Best" for a 12-episode second season.

Chrisley, the so-called "patriach of perfection'"for his family with five kids, lives in a huge house and is an inveterate control freak with a penchant for pithy one liners.

"I let him worry so I don't have to," said his wife Julie on the show. "I let him do and think he's in control. You have to let him think he's in control."

Former Atlantan and CNN anchor Don Lemon, now based in New York, was a guest host. He asked Chrisley whether he minds that people think he's gay. "I wish I had that much time to be gay," Chrisley said. He said if he didn't have five kids, it'd be a "vacation."

The show averages about one million viewers, with a series high 1.25 million last Tuesday.

The show doesn't draw nearly as many viewers as USA's scripted series but it skews far younger than "Suits" or "Royal Pains." In a press release that came out two hours later, USA said the average age of the viewer of "Chrisley Knows Best" is 36.5.

“We knew from the moment we met Todd there was no other character quite like him and whether or not you agree with his parenting style, he has certainly struck a chord with our viewers as their new guilty pleasure,” said Heather Olander, senior vice president, alternative programming for USA Network, said in the press release.  “We’re excited to continue the laughs and be there for more genuine family moments with Todd and his family in season two.”

The show was given a modest eight episode first season test run, which ends April 22. The press release did not say when season two's 12 episodes will begin.
