OWN’s first romantic drama “Love Is__” has been given a second season.

The show, which airs at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, opened with 1.2 million viewers last month and grew to 1.4 million by the July 17th episode. (Those include DVR usage up to three days but does not include on-demand viewing.) It has been the No. 1 show on cable among women 25 to 54 years old in its time slot.

Created by power couple Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the series is a fictionalized version of their coupling back in the 1990s. It's set in Los Angeles but shot in metro Atlanta.

"Mara and Salim have brought their heart and soul to this passion project working with our friends at Warner Horizon Scripted Television and we couldn't be more thrilled to renew the show for a second season," said Erik Logan, president, OWN, in a press release. "This series is an important part of OWN's scripted programming lineup and to see the ratings grow as the Akils' love story unfolds each week is truly exciting."

Fans have given the show solid ratings, with a 7.8 out of 10 on imdb.com.
