Former Regular Guys' host Larry Wachs is returning to terrestrial radio for the first time since Rock 100.5 let him go in December, 2014: he will be filling in for Kim "The Kimmer" Peterson on NewsRadio 106.7 during the week of March 28.
The Kimmer's show is heard from noon to 3 p.m. weekdays.
Wachs said he's been in talks with NewsRadio in the past and he's embracing this opportunity to re-introduce himself to the public. "I'm going to be rusty," he acknowledged. "But I think after a few segments, I'll be back on top of it. It's a long time to be off."
UPDATE: 3/30/16: Wachs brought in radio consultant Walt Sabo to be his sidekick, using the fake name Walter K. Sterling. People on this radio discussions board said Sabo sounds like Gene Simmons, which he does. Sabo hired Wachs in Los Angeles in the 1990s.
As a guest host, "I'm just going to be me," said Wachs, who created the Regular Guys in Los Angeles in the mid-1990s and was a fixture on Atlanta radio from 1998 until 2014. "They needed a fill in and they picked me. I'm going to have fun."

Last year, fellow Regular Guy Eric Von Haessler landed a weekly show on News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB and fills in during the week.
Tim Andrews, another former Regular Guy, is under an absurd six-month non-compete until April 8 before he can get back on the air in Atlanta. (He had not been under contract for four years when Cumulus decided to instate the non-compete. He simply lacks the funds to fight it.) He's doing his own pop culture podcast and working at a pizza shop while he awaits the non-compete to end.
And "Southside" Steve Rickman remains on Rock 100.5 with Jason Bailey.
