In an attempt to generate some sort of excitement regarding "American Idol," the show will offer up a "live vote" for six folks who just missed the cut during the earlier auditions. The auditions will air on Sunday's ABC "American Music Awards."
Viewers will get to decide which one they want to go straight to Hollywood. Judge Lionel Richie will announce the winner during "Dancing With the Stars" finale the next night.
The show returns March 11, 2018.

Carrie Underwood, who just hosted the CMA Awards for the 10th time last week, was hospitalized yesterday after taking a fall outside her Nashville home.
She fell down some stairs and broke her wrist. As a result, she had to skip the Country Rising benefit concert Sunday night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Kelly Clarkson told a podcast that people need to stop tearing down female singers by comparing them to others.
"People always try to gear us — especially women in the industry — against each other," Clarkson told Party Foul Radio with Pollo & Pearl, P odomatic's No. 1 LGBTQ Podcast. "I'm just not about that."
"You know what? I don't want you to compliment me while derailing someone else's career, because that person is comfortable, doing what they like to do," the Texan asserted. "If they love showing skin, they love that. That's how they feel sexy; that's who they are."

"Scorpion" actress Katharine McPhee is giving up on the pop world and will focus on standards like this Nina Simone song:
"When you look back at my Idol history, I was always very confused as a musical artist," McPhee said. "I never thought about genres and all of that. I just loved to sing. So I came out of the gate singing 'God Bless The Child' and 'You Came Along' and 'My Funny Valentine.' I was constantly picking those songs of my own free will. It took me 10 years to figure out, but it's never too late, and I'm really happy doing it. There's nothing better than feeling true to who you are."
