Simon Cowell left the USA last year with his ego between his legs after the U.S. version of "The X Factor" washed out.

But Fox, with its fall gamble "Utopia" dead and "American Idol" in the geriatric ward, still likes Cowell and the Hollywood Reporter says the network is talking to him about a development deal to bring him back in some way, shape or form. Hopefully, Fox has nixed any possible talent-based reality competition show. For now, that whole arena seems played out.

"The Voice" just hit a series low yesterday and "Idol" will likely hit some of those again come next month.
