Simon Cowell left the USA last year with his ego between his legs after the U.S. version of "The X Factor" washed out.

But Fox, with its fall gamble "Utopia" dead and "American Idol" in the geriatric ward, still likes Cowell and the Hollywood Reporter says the network is talking to him about a development deal to bring him back in some way, shape or form. Hopefully, Fox has nixed any possible talent-based reality competition show. For now, that whole arena seems played out.

"The Voice" just hit a series low yesterday and "Idol" will likely hit some of those again come next month.

Ryan Seacrest has reportedly broken up with his girlfriend Shayna Terese Taylor after a year and a half, TMZ reports. He's married to his work, isn't he?

Jennifer Hudson and Katharine McPhee will perform on the annual CBS special "Home for the Holidays" on Friday, Dec. 19.  Hudson was also named as an NAACP Image Award nominee for outstanding female artist.

Carrie Underwood sings to her unborn baby, lucky baby. And her hockey player husband apparently knows the lyrics to virtually no song. That's the tidbits from her Fallon interview Monday.

The Top 48 "Idol" are being cut to 24 at the House of Blues. Someone at my office has a friend from Atlanta who made the top 48.

Kelly Clarkson just sang "A Moment Like This" in Vietnam of all places. I wonder when was the last time she sang that?
