Days remaining in the 2017 Legislative session: 24

The House and Senate will be back in session at 10 a.m. today. Both chambers have relatively minor bills on their agendas, although the Senate will also consider a constitutional amendment that eases the rules for how local school districts handle ESPLOST referendums (local sales taxes used to pay for school construction and renovation).

A House meeting to watch is the 2 p.m. Regulated Industries Committee, which will take up Senate Bill 85. It was originally the bill to allow craft beer brewers to sell directly to consumers. It still does that but it now gives liquor distilleries in Georgia the same rights.

In the Senate, the Health and Human Services Committee at 2 p.m. will again consider Senate Bill 8, which seeks to tamp down on "surprise" hospital billings.
