Georgia lawmakers struck a late deal Thursday on a measure to legalize guns on the state's university campuses, but as our AJC colleagues Kristina Torres and Aaron Gould Sheinin report it's not clear whether lawmakers will approve it before the session ends.
Deal vetoed similar legislation last year after lawmakers defied his personal request for changes that would make exceptions to the gun rights expansion.
But this measure appears to include all the exemptions he wanted: on-campus child care facilities, faculty or administrative office space and disciplinary meetings.
House and Senate lawmakers worked with Deal's office to fashion this measure, and expressed confidence he will sign off on it.
