Georgia Rep. John Lewis isn't the only high-profile Georgia politician who won't attend Donald Trump's inaugural.
Gov. Nathan Deal also won't be attending the Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony. But it has nothing to do with the Twitter feud that erupted over the weekend between Trump and Lewis, which started when Lewis said he would boycott the festivities and prompted the president-elect to insult his Atlanta-based district.
Deal's office sent word on Friday - before the Twitter hubbub - that the governor had decided against the trip to Washington, citing a cost estimate of about $20,000 for taxpayers for travel, lodging and other expenses for the trip.
All of Georgia's congressional delegation, aside from Lewis, is expected to attend Friday's ceremony - although Rep. Hank Johnson said he still hadn't made a final decision. Former President Jimmy Carter and other notable Georgia politicians will also be there. We're still waiting to hear back from several top state leaders, but we suspect some will pass because of the legislative session.
