Pardon us for being late on this, but physical confrontations – even gentle ones -- are rare in presidential contests. And the video is just becoming available.

On Tuesday, ‘twas former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee who was on the stage with Kim Davis in Kentucky, holding up the court clerk’s hand after she was released from jail.

But U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, another GOP presidential candidate, was also on hand to support Davis’ right of refusal when it comes to marriage licenses for gay couples.

But Cruz, according to this MSNBC video just posted on YouTube, was physically blocked from joining the party:

Here's what the New York Times said happened:

When Mr. Cruz, who met with Ms. Davis, exited the Carter County Detention Center, a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of the senator, who appeared incredulous.

Cruz and Huckabee are in a heated battle for evangelical voters within the GOP, and this isn't the first time they've been on the ground together. You'll recall that, in July, the pair both appeared at Rock Springs Church in Milner, Ga., pastored by the Rev. Benny Tate.
