Despite the threat of a frozen morning, the House and Senate will convene at 10 a.m. today It should be a quiet morning for both chambers.
The Senate has just one bill on its calendar, S.B. 34, which would provide immunity from liability for persons entering a parked motor vehicle to save a child.
The House calendar has several lower-profile bills, including H.B. 217, which clarifies state law to allow smaller government pensions to invest in mutual funds and H.B. 199, which makes timber harvesting reporting uniform across the state.
At 10:30 a.m., away from the Capitol, former state Attorney General Michael Bowers will outline his legal analysis of H.B. 218 and S.B. 129, the two "religious liberty" bills. Bowers was hired by Georgia Equality, the state's largest LGBT rights group, to examine the bills. Spoiler alert: He's not a fan.
In committees, the House Ways and Means Committee will take up H.B. 175, which would end Delta's tax break on fuel sales.
