Will Anderson was happy to see a "Government Jobs" category in tonight's episode. The Atlanta-born politico is a senior legislative aide to Democratic Rep. David Scott.

Anderson breezed to his first victory and then, on an episode that aired Thursday night, pulled off what Jeopardy host Alex Trebek called one of the strangest comebacks in the show's history. His shows have become must-see TV among Georgia expats in DC.

Take it from his boss:

Anderson trailed for much of Friday night's match, showing some rust when Trebek offered him an answer right up his alley:

"A portion of the CSS Georgia, one of these 'metallic' Civil War ships, was recovered in 2013 from a Georgia river." (He offered Savannah River, though the answer was "ironclad.")

But he rebounded with a string of correct responses on the "TV Titles in Other Lands," pulling him within striking distance of the leader.

Alas, it was not to be his night. The final challenge was to name the North American river first sailed by Europeans in 1534 named for a man who was martyred in Rome in the 3rd Century. Anderson wrote gibberish. The winner answered, correctly, the St. Lawrence River.

All was not lost for Anderson, though. He took home more than $23,000 for the other two victories. And he'll always have the moment when he told Trebek - and a national TV audience - how he first caught his girlfriend's attention by bringing his "specialty pulled pork" to a barbecue.

He'll also have lifetime bragging rights. As an upbeat Anderson messaged us before the big show:

"How do I know I'm now a two time Jeopardy! champ? #BecauseIWonBothOfThem"
