The House and Senate go in at 10 a.m.

The spotlight is on the House, where Speaker David Ralston's proposal, dubbed the Pastor Protection Act, is the first "religious liberty" bill to the reach a chamber for a vote. Groups have rallied outside the Capitol this week both for and against all eight religious liberty bills.

HB 757 is officially being sponsored by state Rep. Kevin Tanner, R-Dawsonville but was first suggested last summer by Ralston after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.

In the Senate, the powerful Rules Committee is expect to give initial sign-off to SB 284, giving a religious exemption to companies that do not want to do business with gays and lesbians.

The full Senate has before it SB 308, a bill to give grants to organizations that try to talk teens out of abortions.
