Number of working days until the end of the 2016 session of the Legislature: 29.

The Senate goes in at 10 a.m. and has one bill on the calendar. SB 263, by Sen. Bruce Thompson, R-White, would allow cities and counties that employ P.O.S.T. certified police officers to adopt policies authorizing their retired officers to retain their weapon and badge.

This would only apply to officers who left employment due to an in-the-line-of-duty disability.

The House convenes at 10 a.m. and is expected to sign off on the 2016 amended state budget. An annual housekeeping bill, HB 742, ensuring state tax codes adhere to IRS laws, also is before the House.

Thursday is also the first annual “Men’s Day” at the Capitol, with an event set for 2 p.m. What this means, we’re not sure.
