Tip sheet: Burn the day, get out of town, and relax

Number of working days until the end of the 2016 session of the General Assembly: 36.
The Senate will convene at 9 a.m. and the House will start at 9:30 a.m. Both chambers will finish up quick so lawmakers can hit the road for the long weekend. Many will be taking homework with them -- the governor’s 444-page proposed budget for fiscal 2017 and the 220-page amended budget for the current fiscal year.
The 2017 budget is a $23.7 billion, record-breaking behemoth. Some folks will be sleeping well this weekend.
