What do you do when you're a short-timer, Congress is out of session, and your campaign is over? Obviously, you hang out with your buddies and go fishing.

The above photo was provided by U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston’s office this afternoon, of the congressman and Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert doing a little “fishing” in the reflecting pool on west side of the U.S. Capitol.

From what we gather, this has something to do with Colbert’s departure as a faux right-wing commentator, to take David Letterman’s place as host of CBS’ “Late Show.” Kingston, with nothing to lose, is his accomplice – not just at the fishing hole, but in the august halls of the U.S. Capitol.

There’s actually some history here. When Colbert began his schtick with Comedy Central, Kingston was the first congressman to appear on the “Better Know a District” segment. The Georgia congressman also persuaded some of his Georgia Republican colleagues to do the same.

It didn’t work out too well for Lynn Westmoreland. Better not to ask him about it.
