The state’s 236 lawmakers had two snow days last week – days on which they were required to do no work, but were paid nonetheless.

Unfortunately, this does not extend to the interns and aides who fetch and carry for them, according to this Senate memo that’s making the rounds:

We have run into a few lawmakers who are aware of the poor optics of the situation, especially in light of the criticism leveled at the Deal administration’s handling of last week’s icy situation.

These legislators have donated their two days of snow pay to various charities. Perhaps this will encourage more giving. We suggest the General Assembly Indigent Intern Relief Agency.
