Former U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss is comfortably in the private sector now, but his name still stands out.

While pouring over Federal Election Commission data for the fourth quarter of 2015, the entry showing Chambliss for Senate sent $2,000 to Jeb Bush's presidential campaign on Dec. 31 jumped off the screen.

Bush, the former Florida governor, has led the fund-raising race in Georgia for more of the 2016 campaign. That's all changed now -- but more on that later.

We reached out to Chambliss to see if man who retired from public service in 2014 was endorsing Bush. Chambliss, now a partner at global law firm DLA Piper, responded:

"I also gave to Lindsey Graham Campaign and will give to others I am sure during the process.  I have not endorsed any candidate.  They are all my friends and (that) makes it difficult."

So, no endorsement just yet. Bush needs all the help he can get. Coming soon on myajc.com and in Wednesday's print edition, we will have a much more in-depth look at the money race in Georgia and how voters are feeling after Monday night's Iowa caucuses.
