As Donald Trump's campaign looks to shore up his support in Georgia, his running mate is hoping to take home a big fundraising haul in an Atlanta event this month.

With polls showing the race tightening and both campaigns beefing up their Georgia staff, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will head to Atlanta on Aug. 29 for a high-dollar fundraiser.

It'll cost you $100,000 to co-chair the event and $25,000 to be named a host. To attend the reception, it will take $2,700 but we are told general admission tickets will be available at $250 a pop.

Those attending will get to hear from Sen. David Perdue, arguably Trump's highest-profile Georgia supporter, and Herman Cain, the former presidential candidate and WSB radio host. (Cox Media Group owns both WSB and the AJC.)

Trump's campaign has dispatched Pence around the country to play defense, and his recent events include trips to Arizona, North Carolina and Iowa.

He has some work to do introducing himself to Georgia Republicans.

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll showed nearly three in four Georgia Republicans gave Trump a positive rating, but the Indiana governor’s numbers among the party faithful were sharply lower.

He netted a 56 percent approval rating among Republicans (another third ducked the question) and a 37 percent rating with independents, a typically conservative bunch.
