Hillary Clinton will campaign and raise money for her presidential bid in Atlanta on Sept. 17.

This will be Clinton's first open campaign event of the year in Georgia, though she has been through on a fundraising trip. A campaign official shared the date with the AJC but provided no further details about the events.

The visit will come the day after the next Republican presidential debate in California.

Most of the former Secretary of State's campaigning so far has been in the early states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. She is starting to look ahead at SEC Primary states, as well, and has done some early organizing work in Georgia.

Clinton's recent struggles, combined with a surge for Sen. Bernie Sanders and the possible entry of Vice President Joe Biden into the race, means Georgia may end up playing a big role in the Democratic primary.
