House Speaker Paul Ryan's favorite super PAC has an early Memorial Day gift for Republican Karen Handel.

An ad unleashed Thursday by the Congressional Leadership Fund takes aim at Democrat Jon Ossoff's military credentials just ahead of the holiday break.

It features Donna Rowe, a well-known local GOP activist who is also a retired U.S. Army captain. Standing in front of a military park, she describes her military bona fides before launching into an attack.

"Ossoff is a liberal. And immature. And he lied to us about his national security experience,"said Rowe, who served as a nurse in Saigon during the Vietnam war. "Ossoff would vote with Nancy Pelosi to put our soldiers and our dear country at risk."

The ad invokes earlier scrutiny of Democrat Jon Ossoff's record as a former congressional aide who had "top secret" security clearance. Republicans claim he inflated his experience as a staffer for U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson and point to a Washington Post article that found his ads to be "misleading."

Politifact Georgia found no evidence he exaggerated his resume, though it said he left out "relevant context" about his experience.

Ossoff has said he stands by his record and that he will put up his national security credentials "against anyone else in this race." And his campaign spokeswoman Sacha Haworth called an ad that debuted Wednesday with a similar claim "nonsense."

The ad is part of the super PAC's $6.7 million campaign to sway Georgia's 6th District. The group, which has ties to Ryan, now has 135 door knockers targeting 300,000 households ahead of the June 20 runoff.
