Democrat Stacey Abrams has replenished her campaign coffers – and stockpiled for the general election – with her best fundraising quarter yet.
The former House minority leader will report raising roughly $2.75 million for her bid for governor between April 1 and June 30. The campaign has about $1.5 million in cash on hand – nearly double the amount she had three months ago. Overall, she’s raised about $6 million since entering the race.
She’s set to face either Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle or Secretary of State Brian Kemp, who face each other in an increasingly bitter July 24 runoff.
Since her dominating victory in May’s primary, Abrams has tried to take advantage of the unsettled Republican field by raising campaign cash and her profile.
The race for Georgia governor is set to smash fundraising records. All told, the candidates have either raised or loaned themselves at least $25 million. Read more about their last fundraising cycle here.
