The weekend just got a little less pleasant for Republican members of Georgia's congressional delegation. About an hour ago, President Donald Trump sent out the following Twitter message, affirming signals that he's ready to slap a national security tariff on luxury car imports from the European Union. We've mentioned before that this could have implications for U.S. Rep. Karen Handel, R-Roswell, whose Sixth District includes the North American headquarters for Mercedes-Benz, a facility that just had its official opening this spring.

Porsche, which has its continental headquarters on the edge of Hartsfield-Jackson, would also be affected.

But U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Pooler, also has something to worry about. Consider this line from a post on the top 10 U.S. ports, compiled by iContainers.com, a shipping website:

The Port of Savannah hosts North America's biggest single-terminal container facility and has the largest concentration of import distribution centers on the USEC. Brunswick Port is considered the top port for new auto imports, with over 500 acres of land leased or owned by the auto industry.
