Reginald Eaves, who died Tuesday at age 81, was the first African-American police commissioner in the city of Atlanta. Many will remember that he later served until 1988 as a Fulton County commissioner. But most have forgotten one thing about Reggie Eaves: He was Jewish.

Nonetheless, he’ll get a Christian send-off later this month, at an 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, service at Ebenezer Baptist Church. From the office of his nephew, Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves:

Those wishing to send cards and greetings to Mr. Eaves' family can direct them to his nephew, John H. Eaves, Chairman, Fulton County Board of Commissioners; 141 Pryor Street SW; 10th Floor; Atlanta, GA
