We're still two months from the beginning of the 2016 session of the state Legislature, but the casino issue just heated up a notch.
Central Atlanta Progress, the longtime organization that looks after the interests of downtown Atlanta, has issued a "request for proposal" – a solicitation for someone make a quick study of the costs gambling in the city, pro and con. Central Atlanta Progress, Inc. (CAP) is seeking proposals from interested firms or teams of firms with the appropriate expertise to serve as a consultant to conduct research and analysis regarding a possible gaming operation in Atlanta. The study of the opportunity and impact of casino gaming in Atlanta is intended to educate the business community and policy makers and inform policy decision as to what it would take to realize such a gaming attraction and what the ultimate impacts, both positive and negative might be.
A quick hand is wanted:
The project schedule should include a total time frame and durations in days, weeks or months for the completion of each task with key milestones identified. Preference will be given to proposals that can accomplish the scope of services before March 15, 2016.
