Dick Williams, host of WAGA's "The Georgia Gang," fell and injured a leg last week. The bad break has sidelined two careers, not one. Brookhaven Mayor Rebecca Chase Williams this morning ended her bid for a full term in office. From her Facebook page:

My first priority is to take care of my family, especially my husband of 36 years. I also have responsibilities as Mayor that I will not set aside. That means that campaigning would become the lowest priority, and I owe my supporters more than that.

If I can't make my campaign my first priority, I can't really ask voters and supporters to do so. That's why I'm ending my campaign.

Qualifying ended Sept. 2. Dale Boone and John Ernst are the two remaining candidates – Williams’ withdrawal removes the possibility of a runoff in the Nov. 3 contest.
