AJC poll: Almost two-thirds of Georgia voters reject Donald Trump's ban on Muslim immigrants
Almost two-thirds of Georgia voters oppose Republican front-runner Donald Trump's call to temporarily block Muslims from entering the United States, though a slim plurality of GOP voters endorse it.
An Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll conducted by ABT SRBI found that 63 percent of voters in Georgia are against Trump's proposal, which roiled the presidential race in December and drew criticism from most of his rivals. Some 32 percent supported it.
It was far more popular among Republican voters. The poll showed 48 percent backed the proposal and 45 percent opposed it, while 65 percent of independent voters opposed it compared to 33 percent who supported it. Among Democrats, 75 percent of respondents said they were against it and 20 percent backed it.
