The American Music Awards stopped being relevant as an awards show years ago. Now they’re basically the People’s Choice Awards of Music.

That being the case, it really doesn’t matter who won what. But the show always attracts a bevy of pop talent for extravagant performances.

And who doesn’t love to watch Taylor Swift make crazy faces? Speaking of Swift, I’ve always liked her well enough, but she thoroughly endeared herself to me with her acceptance speech for the inaugural Dick Clark Award for Excellence, especially when she thanked fans and noted, “By investing in music in albums you’re saying that music is valuable and music should be consumed in albums and albums should be consumed as art and appreciated.”

Amen, sister.

Anyway, these are my picks for the 10 best performances of the night. Vote for your favorite, or if it wasn’t one of mine, tell me your picks the comments section.
