The summer of Silentó was a fruitful one for the young hip-hop singer from Atlanta.

His earworm “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” accumulated more than 500 million views on fan-generation videos, while the song itself is nearing 500 million streams.

The official video for “Watch Me” has commanded the top spot on Vevo for eight weeks and is also the video hosting service’s fastest clip to hit 100 million views from a debut artist.

In June, we wrote about the 17-year-old known legally as Ricky Lamar Hawk, who is now a senior at Redan High School in Stone Mountain.

His song is getting current mainstream attention in promos for the new season of “Dancing with the Stars” and on Sept. 14, Silentó will perform the track on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Surely, there will be dancing.
