Christopher Cross has announced that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The soft-rock singer with a string of hits including "Sailing" and "Never Be the Same" and "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" said on his social media accounts that he was sharing the news "in hope that this will help other people understand how serious and how contagious this illness is."

The 68-year-old Cross also had a message for the non-believers and "those who think it is a 'hoax' or part of some conspiracy."
"Understand right now that this is a deadly illness spreading like wildfire throughout the world," Cross said.

Cross, a five-time Grammy winner in 1981, recently had his single-year tally matched by Billie Eilish at January's ceremony.

In April 2018, Cross brought his unassuming presence and arsenal of hits to the Variety Playhouse.
