Amid concerns about the spread of Ebola in the United States, a hospital in Washington, D.C. on Friday said it has admitted a patient with Ebola-like symptoms.  The unidentified individual - who had recently traveled to Nigeria - was said to be in stable condition.

Here is a statement sent out by Howard University Hospital spokesperson Kerry-Ann Hamilton:

For privacy reasons, we cannot share additional details about the case. We will provide periodic updates as information becomes available.

Nigeria has seen some Ebola cases, but their health system's aggressive efforts against the disease have made it one of the most successful African nations in how the illness has been dealt with.

It wasn't immediately clear how long this person had been in Nigeria, and what kind of exposure the patient had to the Ebola virus.
