Bouncing back from a landslide defeat in New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton rode a late turnout surge to victory in the Democratic Caucus in Nevada, stunting for now the momentum of Bernie Sanders in the race for their party's nomination.
Clinton's strength in Clark County - the state's largest - centered around Las Vegas, gave her the margin of victory, as estimates are she will pick up most of the delegates to the Democratic convention.
Most importantly for Clinton, this win in Nevada short circuits what would have been a massive surge of momentum for Sanders, and makes it more likely that Clinton can win next Saturday in South Carolina.
In an email to supporters, Sanders stressed the obvious - that he was able with little effort to push Clinton to the limit in a state that should have been an easy victory.
"Nevada was supposed to be a state "tailor made" for the Clinton campaign, and a place she once led by almost 40 points," Sanders supporters were told.
"But today, we sent a message that will stun the political and financial establishment of this country: our campaign can win anywhere," he added.
