Trumpet Awards 2015 honorees include Jamie Foxx, Tommy Hilfiger, Janelle Monae

Actor Jamie Foxx and recording artist Janelle Monae will be among the honorees at the 23rdAnnual Trumpet Awards, to be held 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta at (with a red carpet starting at 2 p.m.).

The event will be hosted by boxing champ Laila Ali and "Biggest Loser" host/trainer Dolvett Quince.

Honorees also will include designer Tommy Hilfiger, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Brock, Carnival Corporation President and CEO Arnold W. Donald, recording artists/songwriters The Isley Brothers, Morehouse School of Medicine President and Dean Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice and Sunshine Holdings Chairman Franklin R. Wilson.

The awards ceremony will be televised on Feb. 21 on TV One (check local listings for times).

Related events include a race relations symposium, "The Continuing Quest for Equality," planned for 6 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in downtown Atlanta, a sponsor recognition tribute to be held after the symposium, and the Soulful Ending closing event planned for Jan. 24 after the Trumpet Awards, at the Hyatt Regency hotel downtown.

The Trumpet Awards, founded by Xernona Clayton, were created to celebrate and honor African American achievers and those who support the African American experience. The annual event salutes accomplishments in law, medicine, business, politics, the arts, civil rights, sports, entrepreneurship, entertainment and other careers.
