Rachel Dolezal, who left her role as a local NAACP president in Washington state and lost a part-time university teaching job after it was revealed that she is a white, said that yes, she is white but identifies as black, during a spirited discussion on Monday's episode of "The Real."

"White isn't a race. It's a state of mind," she said during the visit. She also confirmed that she is expecting.

That did not seem to win her a lot of points with host Loni Love, who asked pointedly, "Are you ashamed of being white?"'

Later though, the show posted a nice message to her via Twitter:
