"Fake nurse" who worked at Bobbi Kristina's hospice signed death certificate, authorities say

The “fake nurse” who once worked at the hospice where Bobbi Kristina Brown died allegedly signed a death certificate in an unrelated case, Channel 2 Action News reports. It was one year ago Sunday that Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub; she died July 26.

Duluth Police Det. Fran Foster tells Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Regan that Sobamowo, who allegedly practiced using forged credentials, had access to and interacted with Bobbi Kristina while she was a patient.

Authorities have not specified whether any action allegedly taken by Sobamowo harmed any of the patients she came into contact with but Foster said she put patients in general at risk by practicing improperly. The death certificate was for another patient, not Bobbi Kristina, Foster said.

North Carolina authorities last fall arrested Sobamowo, who worked at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth at the time Bobbi Kristina was a patient there, acting on warrants from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

"Sobamowo had provided fraudulent credentials under a different name to gain employment,” Forsyth officials said at the time.

She faces similar charges in Duluth, in Gwinnett County, and in Roswell.

"The Roswell Police Department is investigating a nurse who was practicing without a license in Roswell and other locations in Georgia," the Roswell Police Department said in a statement.

"She applied for the position of a clinical manager and was hired by Homestead Hospice, located in Roswell, GA. Four warrants were signed by a judge on December 1, 2015, for Taiwo Sobamowo, age 32, from Buford, GA. Sombamowo will be charged with the following: Identity Fraud, Forgery 1st Degree,Theft by Deception, and Practicing as a Professional Registered Nurse without a License."

Sombamowo has a criminal history and had used false credentials to land prior nursing jobs,  the AJC's Craig Schneider and Steve Visser recently reported.

Bobbi Kristina died in July after months of hospitalization, then hospice care.
