The hotly anticipated "Avengers: Infinity War" had a super heroic weekend at the box office with a $630 million global haul ($250 million domestic), according to data from Box Office Mojo . And it hasn't even opened in China yet.

The film's successor, also filmed here, is due out next year. The two projects combined to generate more than $182 million in local economic activity, the Georgia Department of Economic Development said . During their time filming here, several of the stars teamed up for a live reading of "Our Town" at the Fox Theatre, a benefit that raised $500,000 for the Hurricane Maria Community Relief & Recovery Fund at the Center for Popular Democracy.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is the second smash for Marvel in a matter of months. "Black Panther," also filmed in Atlanta and released in February, has sailed past the $1 billion mark internationally ($688 million domestic).
