Two major doughnut chains are offering free treats to celebrate National Doughnut Day. Dunkin' Donuts will be offering customers a free doughnut with any beverage purchase at all locations. Not to be outdone, Krispy Kreme has announced that all customers will receive a free doughnut, with no purchase necessary. According to Krispy Kreme's Web site, National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army and to honor women of the Salvation Army who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
