Old Fourth Ward restaurant Staplehouse has racked up yet another accolade.

After being recognized as the best new restaurant in the U.S. by Bon Appetit magazine earlier this week , the spot has now been named to Southern Living's list of best new restaurants in the South.

Of Smith's cooking, Southern Living writer Jennifer V. Cole writes, "each dish, a panoply of local ingredients and avant-garde culinary techniques, demonstrates the chef’s playful prowess.

Joining Staplehouse on Southern Living's list is Revival, Kevin Gillespie's Decatur Southern comfort food spot . Gillespie, who also owns the much-lauded Gunshow, was a 2016 finalist for Best Chef: Southeast.

Revival, Cole writes, "might be the truest example of who (Gillespie) is as a chef—full of heart and reverence for the most beloved dishes of Southern memory." She also shouted out his fried chicken and cornbread, amongst other dishes.
