Old Fourth Ward restaurant Staplehouse has racked up yet another accolade.
After being recognized as the best new restaurant in the U.S. by Bon Appetit magazine earlier this week , the spot has now been named to Southern Living's list of best new restaurants in the South. Since opening in September of last year, Staplehouse has earned high reviews, including three stars from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution . It was also a 2016 James Beard Award finalist for Best New Restaurant , with executive chef Ryan Smith getting a James Beard nod as a semifinalist for Best Chef: Southeast .
Of Smith's cooking, Southern Living writer Jennifer V. Cole writes, "each dish, a panoply of local ingredients and avant-garde culinary techniques, demonstrates the chef’s playful prowess.

Joining Staplehouse on Southern Living's list is Revival, Kevin Gillespie's Decatur Southern comfort food spot . Gillespie, who also owns the much-lauded Gunshow, was a 2016 finalist for Best Chef: Southeast.
Revival, Cole writes, "might be the truest example of who (Gillespie) is as a chef—full of heart and reverence for the most beloved dishes of Southern memory." She also shouted out his fried chicken and cornbread, amongst other dishes.
