A Decatur tavern with a throwback vibe has closed its doors just more than a year after opening.
Truman Tavern, which opened in the former Colbeh space at 1223 E. Court Square on Aug. 31, announced the closure on Facebook last week:

The concept, which saw executive chef Michael Condon of Decatur spots Badda Bing Catering and Calle Latina partner with Brian Buchanan and Paul Vinces, had a vintage feel and a menu that gave a nod to "things you may have eaten with your parents 25 years ago," Buchanan told the AJC in 2016.
“The idea here is a classic New York steakhouse with a very Decatur vibe," he said. "It’s very casual but the quality of the food doesn’t reflect that. It’s center plate dishes and things you may have eaten with your parents 25 years ago.”
Former AJC dining critic Elizabeth Lenhardt gave the spot a largely unfavorable review in May, writing "It's history I'd rather not revisit."
No word yet on what will move into the space.
