Dance party. Chili cook-off. Cornhole tournament. There’s lots of food and fun happening around town this weekend. Add one or all four of the following events to your calendar and be prepared to eat, drink and have a grand ole time. Thank goodness it’s Friday!
Dance party: Eclipse Di Luna – Buckhead will offer patrons a chance to party to the tunes of salsa, merengue and bachata music from 8:30-11:30 p.m. every Friday. A live group, Willie Ziavino and the COT Band, will perform.
Chili cook-off: The Brookhaven Chili Cook-off will take place from 12-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. This family-friendly event will feature live music, kids games and lots of chili. Several prizes will be awarded including the People's Choice, Brunswick Stew Amateur and Most Spirited. A bevy of local chefs will compete for the Chili Restaurant award including Chef Shan Holler of Eclipse di Luna and Chef Alexander Hebert of Loca Luna . National Sausage Pizza Day specials: In honor of National Sausage Pizza Day, which is Sunday, Oct. 11, Thirteen Pies will be serving its house-made lamb sausage pie for $11 all day. Varuni Napoli will feature Pako, an artisan pizza made with fresh buffalo mozzarella, roasted smoked peppers, Italian sausage, mushrooms, caramelized onions, Pecorino Romano and basil in honor of the foodie holiday.
Tailgate party: Each weekend at 4 p.m. now through Nov. 15, teams can participate in a cornhole tournament on King + Duke 's patio. Teams can play every weekend and the team with the highest points at the end of the tournament season will win a pair of $50 King + Duke gift cards as well as K+D hats. No tailgate is complete without great food and cold drinks so Chef EJ will offer a menu filled with his favorite tailgating bites, which includes popcorn 'maiz con chile" and blue cheese chips with bacon plus complementing drink selections.
