Take a food detour to the country with this metro Atlanta event

Need a break? This weekend offers you a chance to get away with some of the best chefs in the city.

The Atlanta Les Dames d'Escoffier International's  Afternoon in the Country will feature more than 115 tasting stations from metro Atlanta chefs paired with area farms, along with wine and micro-brews. Participants include The General Muir, Chai Pani, South Main Kitchen, The Optimist, O-Ku, Sweet Grass Dairy, The Woodsman & Wife and Wrecking Barn Farm.

The event will also offer live music,  a cake raffle with items from local pastry chefs and a silent auction with dining and travel packages, food and wine merchandise and art.

Proceeds from Afternoon in the Country benefit LDEI|ATL's scholarship and grant programs which support Georgia women in the culinary, beverage and hospitality arts. The event also supports local non-profit organizations, which in the past have included Georgia Organics, Wholesome Wave, Global Growers Network, The Giving Kitchen, The Wylde Center and The Atlanta Community Food Bank.
