These days there's caramel everything. Caramel coffee. Caramel banana pudding. Chorizo-caramel ice cream, for goodness' sake. But if mom's a caramel fan, we suggest going old school and getting her a bag of the real thing - individually wrapped handmade caramels. Postre Caramels in Asheville makes luscious caramels in three flavors – Sea Salt, Chocolate and Sourwood Honey. We tried the honey caramels. You taste the butter. You taste the honey. You get the tiniest bit of salt. If mom can resist chewing on them, they will slowly melt on her tongue and remind her why she fell in love with caramel in the first place. Postre Caramels also makes caramel sauce and lollipops if you really want to get mom stocked up. If you go to The Local Exchange, you can buy the caramels by the piece as well. $5.99 for a 2.5-ounce bag. Available at The Local Exchange, 130 South Park Square, Marietta. 770-794-3136. Star Provisions, 1460 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd., 404-365-0410 ext. 4. Or online at postrecaramels.com.

Crazy about peanuts and chocolate?

Southwest Georgia is the heart of peanut country. And in the heart of southwest Georgia lies the small town of Edison, where the West family has been frying up peanuts since the 1970s and selling them at their hometown IGA grocery store. It wasn't until last year that John West got the notion to stir those deep fried peanuts into melted milk or white chocolate and create 4-inch wide circles of scrumptiousness. Mostly peanuts, just bound together with chocolate, the disks took the top prize in the confections category in the 2017 Flavor of Georgia competition. West created them when a friend asked for something local that could be used as a gift. And so the Chocolate Covered Deep Fried Peanut Cluster was born. Perfect for the mom who's crazy about nuts. $24 for a case of 12. You'll find them online under "Specials/Peanut Clusters" at westfoodsinc.com.

Flowers or chocolate? How about flower-shaped chocolates?

If she's a fan of pretty, mom will love this "Hearts and Flowers" box from Norcross-based Chamberlain's Chocolate Factory. Each of the 15 chocolates is hand-painted in beautiful bright colors and the pretty milk chocolate shapes hide delicious fillings. There's strawberry cream, chocolate mousse, raspberry tart and dulce caramel among other luscious flavors. The fillings are all made in-house and a little card tells mom which chocolate has which filling. At their retail showroom in Norcross you will find lots of options for Mother's Day, but we think you'll be as tempted as we were by this pretty box. $19 for a 15-piece box. The Beehive carries the box and other options, 1250 Caroline Street NE, Atlanta. 404-581-9261. chamberlainschocolate.com.
