History buffs with a hunger for fresh soup, salads and sandwiches are in luck -- the Buckhead location of Souper Jenny is getting a new home at the Atlanta History Center . Set to open on April 2, 2016, the spot will also include a bookstore that will feature titles on Atlanta history, Southern studies, gardening and cookbooks.

Located just off the History Center’s new main entrance, and connected to the Allen Atrium, the 4,017-square-foot café features floor-to-ceiling glass front windows and will double the indoor seating capacity for Souper Jenny patrons.

In addition to its typical menu of soups, salads and sandwiches, the location will also feature dinner to go, juices, gluten-free desserts and a full coffee bar.

The Buckhead Souper Jenny -- currently located about a half mile from the History Center in the Andrews Entertainment Complex -- will close in March 2016. There are also locations in Decatur, Brookhaven and Westside, and chef/owner Jenny Levison also owns Cafe Jonah and Juicy Jenny in Buckhead .

Current culinary options include the Swan Coach House and Chick-fil-A, which serve a limited menu, but Souper Jenny will be the only spot open seven days a week during the History Center's operating hours, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The venture is the latest in a series of large-scale projects the Atlanta History Center is undertaking, including the acquisition of the Cyclorama, set to re-open in the location in early 2017.
