Best of OTP Dining: Seven Sisters Scones in Johns Creek
What's not to like about a scone? Little single-serving treats to have with your morning coffee or afternoon tea. But forget your ideas of crumbly traditional scones and imagine moist creations with creative flavors like fig and goat cheese, apple caramel and chipotle gouda. This modern take on scones is what chef-owner Hala Yassine serves at Seven Sisters Scones in Johns Creek.
Open a little more than a year now, the bakery-cafe offers a wide variety of sweet and savory flavors (more than 50, a dozen of which rotate weekly). In addition to scones, you can also munch on “sconewiches,” “bissconies,” soups and salads. Here are five standout items to try at Seven Sisters Scones.

Sconewich: If you stop by Seven Sisters Scones around lunchtime, venture onto the savory side and order a mini sconewich, a sandwich made with a savory scone. Better yet, pick the three minis option to sample a few different combinations. Turkey on a bacon-cheddar-chive scone is a mouthful of salty goodness. You can also choose from roast beef, ham or caprese, then pair that with one of the savory scones like the caramelized onion and asiago cheese.
Diablo scone: When you're in the mood for some heat, choose the Diablo scone whose fierce kick comes from Serrano, habanero and jalapeno peppers plus pepper jack cheese. Eat it on its own, pair it with hot soup or select it as the base for an egg and cheese sandwich. Other spicy scone concoctions include a buffalo chicken flavor, cracked pepper and ghost pepper.
Mixed berry scone: This one is a moist, bright, fruity delight. With fresh blueberries, raspberries and blackberries mixed through the buttery dough, it's sweet with just enough tartness to liven up each bite.

Raspberry White Chocolate: Craving more of a sugar rush? The colorful raspberry white chocolate scone will fit the bill. Sweet white chocolate chips and tart raspberries are folded into the dough. Once baked, the pastry gets swiped with a decadent raspberry glaze.
Bissconies: Before you leave, grab a bag of "bissconies," the bakery's take on a biscotti. More chewy than brittle, these are available in numerous flavors (and there is a gluten-free option), and come six to a bag. Opt for the Mounds flavor; like the classic candy bar, it's a delicious mix of coconut, chocolate and almonds.
