IPA Day
Founded in 2011, IPA Day is Aug. 6 this year, bringing beer geeks, bloggers and brewers together in a worldwide celebration of what has become the most popular of craft beer styles.
Social media is a big part of the day, and the local Reddit group ATL Beer is good place to find out what's on tap at breweries, brew pubs and beer bars around Atlanta and Georgia.
Sweetwater Brewing has a big IPA Day event today featuring rare draft beers such as Whiskey Barrel Aged Hop Hash,
Second Helping IIPA, and 420 Fest IIPA. Also, one-off casks, including Ole Faithful (IPA with peppercorns and centennial hops), Funk the Hash (Hop Hash blended with tart ginger wheat) and IPitA da Fool (IPA blended with Pit & The Pendulum peach brett dry hopped with Simcoe).
Brick Store Pub has nine IPAs on tap today, including four special Stone Ruination Nation releases, Ruination 2.0,
Ruination 2.0 double dry hopped, Ruination 2.0 on American Oak, and Ruin Ten
Blackberry Farm Classic Saison at Billy Reid
Celebrating another very different beer style today, Billy Reid and Blackberry Farm will be hosting an in-store event from 6-8 p.m. at the Howell Mill Road store to celebrate the release of Blackberry Farm Brewery's Classic Saison.
Classic Saison is a bottle-conditioned, Belgian-style farmhouse ale with Styrian Aurora, French Triskel, and Czech Saaz hops, and a dry, champagne-like palate.
Blackberry Farm will tour six Billy Reid shops across the country throughout August, culminating in a Billy Reid and Blackberry Farm dinner on Aug. 28 hosted by chef Frank Stitt.
